Great Story, Great sound, great eye-candy.

You play as Tommy Angelo, once a Taxi Driver and after a few years, a well respected Mafiaso. The game starts with you (Tommy) telling his story to a detective. You play through many hard missions ranging to shooting down an airplane or chasing someone through the countryside.
But it is in the 1930s! Expect old looking cars and not those Cars from '2 Fast 2 Furious.' You'll be going from the stunning speed of 40 to 60 km/h average. Not only that, you also get old guns like the 'Tommy' Gun and some old revolvers. The game producers must have gone through alot to find and model those cars.
The AI is one of the most excellent I have ever seen. Running a red light will attract the police to get you just for a fine. Speeding too will attract them. Killing a passer-by will piss the police off and running from them in a old car is very difficult.
The problem starts in the beginning. The old cars can navigate around 'Lost Heaven' City fairly well. But sometime your old cars can't climb some key hills in the game and you get stuck. An often but minor annoyance which teachs you to DRIVE safely and not whack yourself into a lamppost or a wall.

I never had seen such beauty! The cars are truely beautiful and the smoke effects look real. With graphic levels pushed to the max, however, the game drops from my favorite 30-60 FPS to 10-15 FPS and turns it into a fast slideshow. But turning off a few graphic option and you can enjoy most of the engine have to offer without playing the game in a slideshow.
The cars are really destructable too. You can pop the tires, disfigure it with a handy baseball bat or destroy it with a tommy gun *ratatatatatatatatata* :)
To sum it all up. It looks real!
Sound: 10
A very nice music selection, horns, dialogues and sound effects. It fits the mood and time setting of the game really well. The voice acting is superb and fits with the characters.
Replayablity: 8
Strangely, Mafia don't have 1 vital thing that GTA gave. Speed. The cars are slow and with police catching you if you do speed does reduce the fun. But you can explore every part of the city at your lesiure and admire the sky if you want. ( It's spooky real )

If it were really Grand Theft Auto, there should be faster cars than those 1930s boneshakers. A point off for the 1 man army at the end of the game and another point due to the work I have to go through just to take some screenshots in this game! You didn't see that coming, did ya?
